LAUTOKA is hoping to bounce back in the Digicel Premier League when the side takes on neighbour Ba at Churchill Park tomorrow.

The Blues suffered a shock 2-0 loss against Nadi at Prince Charles Park last Sunday which led to the dismissal of coach Tagi Vonolagi.

Lautoka team director Abdul Kadar said former Fiji under-16 coach Imdad Ali had been appointed as the interim coach to look after their preparations.

Kadar said Ali was no stranger to Lautoka having coached the team previously.

“Preparations for this weekend’s game have been hampered by the unfavourable weather conditions this week,” Kadar said. “Seven of our players are in the national camp so they haven’t trained together as a team.

Tournament director Alan Kumar said this was a great opportunity for players to showcase their talents.

“It believes in giving women an equal playing field to compete with men to eliminate violence against women and getting teams to compete on a weekly basis to eliminate noncommunicable diseases,” Kumar said.

Ba is the host for the fixture. “We have appointed Imdad Ali as the interim coach and are negotiating with other coaches to take up the top job. Once the right person is approved then we will call a press conference.”
