Pothole problems

-

I UNDERSTAND that the FRA lacks money and expertise to maintain all the tarsealed roads to their so proudly professed “NZ standard of roads”.

I believe FRA has gravelled tarsealed roads. In some places where the tarsealed roads still exist, gravel is used to replace tar to patch the potholes.

I wonder what the FRA is waiting for to patch the potholes on the once tarsealed road now made gravel. It’s a nightmare to drive from Naqere to Savusavu Town. Can the very good CEO of LTA advise me on the following: how to practise safe driving on unsafe roads?;

– on which types of road a student driver goes through his or her final test before a licence is issued?;

– within the speed limit zone any vehicle that goes faster is flagged down and booked. What happens if creeping within that speed limits, and holding traffic? Will he be booked just because of the road conditions?;

– we pay for road levy. Can he advise what is the total in revenue collected in a year; and

– your vehicle must be roadworthiness. Is the road worthy of your vehicle?

I wonder whether COVID-19 is to be blamed for this?

If you cannot maintain the tarsealed roads because of potholes, then why are you making it gravel and still not maintaining the potholes? What’s the difference?

Yaroi Village is not at all happy with the continuous dust.

But for sure business is booming for the garages, spare parts and car wash owners. I guess business has never been better for these folks.

Thanks to FRA, LTA and our government.

Give me the next budget. I will concrete all the roads. Problem solved!
