League goes into break
PLAYERS SET TO PLAY IN RELIGIOUS TOURNEY
THE Digicel national football league goes into a break this weekend in all grades.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that all Fiji FA competitions have been given a break this weekend for Easter celebrations.
“The Digicel Premier League, Digicel Women’s Super League, Digicel U19 League, Digicel U16 Boys and Girls Youth League, Digicel Women’s
Senior League and Digicel Senior League will all resume after next weekend,” said Yusuf.
“There will be religious tournaments around the country and some players will be celebrating Easter, so we have decided to give them a break this weekend.
“Most district players will feature in their religious district teams as well and Fiji FA is fully supporting them.”
Yusuf said the national league in all grades had been successful until now.
“We have seen a lot of improvement in all the grades of competition as all the teams are coming out well prepared for their respective competitions,” said Yusuf.
Yusuf said the premier league had been very competitive this season.
“We have witnessed four rounds of competitions in the DPL which has proved to be very competitive,” said Yusuf.
“The premier league is getting more exciting and thrilling as we have seen in the past four rounds with Labasa unbeaten while all other teams have been defeated.
“There will be more nail-biting and stimulating matches as we go on with the competition and the fans will surely enjoy watching the fixtures,” said Yusuf.
Labasa registered its first win last weekend beating Moshins Insulation Nadroga 1-0 at home and defending premier league champion Suva has suffered its first loss of the new season going down 0-1 against the Esy Kool Nadi side at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Viti Flow Water Lautoka side created an upset over Online IT Solutions Ba side 2-1 while Rewa won 1-0 against Navua.
