Khan gets baptism of fire in golf

IN-FORM performer Azahar Khan had his baptism of fire in the A-grade division during the 4th round of the Four R Electrical & General Contractor­s Pte Ltd-sponsored 18 holes stroke event at the Lautoka Golf Club course last Saturday.

Khan netted a solid 67 for the A-grade title.

He was two shots clear of Prem Chand who carded 69 and James Krishna on 70.

Former Fiji Football Associatio­n referee Davendra Mudaliar posted the best score of the day on a solid 64 to easily account for the B-grade title. Adeel Khan came in second on 67 with Pritam Singh, third on 70.

Aaron Wong was the surprise winner in the C-grade with a fine 65.

Reginald Ram grabbed second spot on 72 with school student Aariz Khan third on 74.

Jay Shiu Ram was declared the junior champion with former Fiji and Nadi football rep Maika Kasami who was awarded the beginners’ category title.

The nearest to the pin (NTP) award on the second hole went to Daven Mudaliar and Gaffar Ali on the ninth hole. Azahar Khan, meanwhile, hit the longest drive on the third hole.

Club executive Raymond Singh commended sponsors Rishi Kumar and Rynal Kumar for their continuous support in promoting golf in Lautoka.

Ba Football Associatio­n secretary Iliyaz Khan represente­d Four R Electrical Ltd to reward the winners with attractive prizes along the many novelty prizes.
