Top of the table duel

U16 set for league battle

IT’S going to be the top of the table clash when Tailevu Naitasiri and Nasinu clash this Saturday in the Digicel Senior League at the Fiji FA Academy ground in Vatuwaqa.

Both teams are unbeaten after two rounds of the competitio­n and are equal on the points table.

The Mira Sahib coached Nasinu side won 2-0 against Lami and fought hard to beat Rakiraki 4-3 while Tailevu Naitasiri under the guidance of former Rewa coach Nigel Khan won 2-0 against Northland Tailevu and 3-1 against Tavua.

Nasinu has three Solomon Islanders in their side with former Tavua reps Waisake Sogam,

Nacanieli Ratu, formesr U20 reps Jonetani Buksh and Iliesa Rakuka to name a few while Tailevu Naitasiri also included a Solomon Islander and former Rewa youth goalkeeper Jason Rokovuacak­e, former Rewa and Labasa defender Abhishek Deo, former Ba, Rewa and Nasinu rep Malakai Lavetia and former Rewa and national U20 rep Rusiate Qio this season.

On Sunday Tavua, who are fifth on the points table, will host third place Northland Tailevu at the Garvey Park in Tavua at 2pm while fourth place Rakiraki will take on Lami at the Penang Sangam High School ground in Rakiraki at 2pm.

THE round two of the Digicel National U16 Boys Youth League continues this weekend in the Southern and Western divisions.

The Western Zone will be played on Saturday, at the Nadi Sangam Primary School ground in Nadi, Nadi will host Rakiraki at 12 midday while at the same time Tavua and Lautoka will play at Tagitagi Primary School ground in Tavua. Nadroga will host Ba at Tuvu Primary School ground in Sigatoka at 12 midday.

In the first round Ba registered a 3-2 win against Rakiraki while Lautoka won 1-0 against Nadi. Ba currently leads the points table with better goal difference with Lautoka.

The Southern Zone will be played on Sunday at Fiji FA Academy ground in Vatuwaqa.

Rewa will face Nasinu at 10am followed by Navua vs Tailevu Naitasiri at 12 midday. At 2pm Northland Tailevu will take on Suva.

The Baby Tigers tops the points table after an impressive 7-0 win against Navua in the opener while defending champion Northland Tailevu is on second spot with a 2-0 win against Tailevu Naitasiri. Nasinu is placed third with a 2-1 win against Suva.
