FJFW secures sponsorship

- By IAN CHUTE

FIJI Fashion Week (FJFW) received a timely boost after Colgate-Palmolive Fiji (CP) renewed its sponsorship yesterday, making Palmolive the official partner of the Pacific’s premier fashion event for 2021 and 2022.

CP general manager Hiten Lal sealed the deal virtually with FJFW managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight who in Sydney, reaffirming the oral, personal and home care giant’s support for local designers which began last year with $75,000 in the teeth of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms Whippy-Knight called CP a friend to FJFW and said the support would allow FJFW to come back stronger after the pandemic.

“When you have partners and friends who join you on what can seem like audacious goals and, more importantly, who put their money where talk goes, it makes all dreams a reality,” she said.

“Palmolive has been that friend to Fiji Fashion Week and the many fashion creatives whose livelihoods we directly work to make better.

“Palmolive’s support in 2021 makes it possible for FJFW to come back fighting to build back better in our goal to ensure that fashion is for everyone but, more importantly, that everyone in fashion can grow in these difficult times.”

Mr Lal said 2020 was an exciting year for CP and FJFW despite the pandemic and the event stayed on the tips of tongues for months after.

He said CP was a longstanding partner of the fashion industry internationally and they were delighted to bring this partnership to Fiji.

“CP has been a longstanding partner in the fashion industry through associations with London Fashion Week and fashion events in Australia and we very excited to bring this association now to Fiji with our brand Palmolive,” he said.

“We feel this will be an exciting year of fashion and with this partnership, we will bring Fiji Fashion Week on a bigger and brighter note.”

He said FJFW and CP shared values of sustainability and CP made a commitment to 100 per cent recyclability of plastic packaging.

“FJFW and CP share core values of sustainability in their respective areas; as part of its commitment to protect our environment, Colgate-Palmolive has committed to 100 per cent recyclability of plastics in packaging across all its product categories by 2025.

“The company has already made significant progress in advancing its 2021 packaging sustainability goals and currently 98 per cent of its packaging is PVC-free.

“We feel this will be an exciting year of fashion and with this partnership, we will bring Fiji Fashion Week on a bigger and brighter note.

“The Palmolive brand is ever evolving just as fashion is.”
