Toppers students

I WRITE this open letter to warmly congratulate Shiva Prakash of Baulevu High School, Nausori, and Kaveet Kavitesh Kumar of Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College ( SSMKC) of Nadi.

Shiva Prakash (19 years) scored 383 out of 400 marks and Kaveet Kavitesh Kumar (19 years) scored 384 out of 400 marks in the Year 13 external examination. Highly commendable achievements. I have no doubt that the teachers of both the schools where these two students studied and their parents must be mighty proud of their success stories.

Currently, both the toppers are studying at the University of the South Pacific.

Shiva is chasing his dream to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree with double majors (Computer Science & Information Technology) while Kaveet is chasing his dream to become a business analyst and is pursuing his studies to complete a double major (Accounting and Finance).

The FijiFirst Government’s vision to prepare our students for future employment prospects and to generate competition among students introduced the toppers scheme.

This was simply a brilliant idea which is now bearing fruit.

The Ministry of Education is pursuing this policy relentlessly.

It is noteworthy that these two students come from committee-run schools which have operated under very difficult circumstances.

I wish both the students every success in their future endeavours.
