Whippy-Knight: Workshop to strengthen designers
THE Fiji Fashion Week two days fashion masterclass workshop aimed at designers participating in FJFW21 ended yesterday.
FJFW managing director Ellen WhippyKnight said the pandemic had forced everyone worldwide to innovate and be creative about how we keep the economy going.
She said fashion was one industry that had taken advantage of that development by making design education available in the virtual world.
“So using the fashion masterclasses concept, FJFW is able to offer design seminars by the world’s fashion greats to 26 FJFW designers and the wider FJFW community,” she said.
Ms Whippy-Knight also highlighted that they were also able to host locallybased Australian designer, Tracey Farrington.
“What the designers learn from the two-day program will affect the way they approach and execute the collections they will showcase at FJFW x Palmolive 2021.
“If designers want to be genuine, they must upskill constantly and seek training that will guide and influence the quality and delivery of the rich cultural background and talent they already have.”
FJFW designer relations manager Epeli Tuibeqa said it had boosted the participants’ experience and knowledge in fashion.
“Yesterday’s workshop, the designers learnt about the business of fashion from Tracey Farrington, and she really opened up the eyes of designers who thought they were coming in to talk about creativity and collections and fabric, but she transitioned them into making money and being professional,” he said.
