Community transmission
WE have all by now acclimatised ourselves to lives lived under curfew, mandatory quarantine and last year in zoned lockdowns.
It has and is still difficult for some of us, but through the passage of time we have and had managed to live with it — albeit with some compromise and sacrifice.
So it is quite disheartening to now hear that probably through carelessness and complacency on someone’s part a standing protocol at the border was apparently not adhered to and community transmission is now being mentioned as a possible risk to guard against.
It goes without saying that more stringent containment strategies may now need to be seriously considered not only at the border but elsewhere.
That is probably the last thing we need right now, but it is a consideration and outcome that unfortunately is a reality that we all have to live with once again.

Admiral Circle, Paqcific Harbour out of the woods, the new border quarantine case sent fear around the community.
PM Bainimarama made a simple plea — do not gather, and do not travel unless it is essential. He stressed that large gatherings were not safe. He also stressed about the importance of practising the social distancing rules and handwashing.
Let us adhere to safety measures. The second wave of COVID-19 has had a massive impact on many countries and Fiji will be no exception. Stay safe Fijians!
