A NEW rest room for people living with disabilities was opened at the Suva Bowling Club last Saturday.
Club president Samuela Tuikiligana said the facility would help create an inclusive environment in the club.
“We have been thinking of opening a facility for people with disabilities for quite a long time, however, we had some financial problems because of all this COVID-19,” he said.
He acknowledged Kontiki Finance for providing financial support.
“We are very grateful to Kontiki Finance for providing $5000 to start the work.
“We always do our raffles every Thursday, Friday and Saturday whereby the proceeds contributed towards the development.
“We needed about $8000 for the facilities, so we needed more funds after the assistance and the fundraising that we did every week contributed towards the construction.”
He said he had other plans to improve the service and facilities in the club, which were in the pipeline.
“We have a lot of plans in the pipeline, but we will just go on as we get funds then we will do our upgrade and other developments.
“I hope that the members will be happy and accept the future plans and developments.”
He acknowledged everyone who had contributed towards the successful development of the rest room.
