THE Wearing Fiji Virtual Charity Auction raised $6000 on Saturday.

Designs and creations by Hupfeld Hoerder, Robert Verebasaga, Temesia Tuicaumia, Atelaite Daunibau, Natalia Larsen, Andrew Powell, Samson Lee Fiji, Renee Wasile and Anastasia Georgiou were auctioned off to mostly bidders in Australia and the United States to raise funds to provide food packs to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wearing Fiji co-founder Samson Lee said they partnered with Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) MP and Fiji fashion diehard Lynda Tabuya because of the work she had already been doing for families in need.

Ms Tabuya, who has been providing food packs to families in need since the outbreak began in late April through her fortnightly parliamentary salary, said they initially raised $5665 but this was topped up to $6000 by Samson Lee.

“This will go towards providing food packs for about 200 families,” she said.

“We hope to get this out to the families in the next couple of weeks.”

The highest fetching piece was a three-tier panelled maxi dress by Samson Lee from his upcoming season collection ‘Waterlilly’ that pays homage to the generations of women of Adi Cakobau School. Featuring a halter neckline, coconut shell button fastening at the back with a self-tie belt and matching masi print design, the dress was sold for $1500.
