Fantastic Fiji FA

“FAMILIES emotional over football help” is such an inspiring story of sports going beyond its parameters of normal functions (FT, June 17, 2021).

Over the past few days, the Fiji Football Association has been reaching out to affected players of various districts with food rations and assistance. This is an extremely wonderful gesture at the right time by the Fiji FA.

Such initiatives from sporting federations for the support of their players are admirable and fantastic.

This shows that sports is not only about playing the sports, but also includes the human and emotional aspects of life.

Fiji FA’s vision to develop and prepare a plan to help its players in times of crisis has to be admired, applauded and recognised.

A lot of credit must be given to Fiji FA president, Rajesh Patel and his entire team for having the vision to create such a system that helps its players in the time of need.

Also consoling is the willingness of Fiji FA to provide more relief in the future.

This gesture should be an eye-opener and also inspire other sporting bodies to have a similar program to help their players in times of need.

Business companies can also create their own contingency plans for relief efforts to help their workers in times of need. After all, it is the players and workers that really run a sporting or business organisation.

This creative and practical scheme designed by the leaders of Fiji FA is really praiseworthy, and also shows light to other organizations. Many thanks again to Fiji FA.
