FOOD CITY Rewa Football Club duo Kavaia Rawaqa and France Catarogo are grateful to Fiji Football Association for the timely food ration distribution to them and unemployed footballers in the country. Rawaqa, 31, said he was grateful for the kind gesture.

“I am very pleased with the help by Fiji FA,” Rawaqa said.

“It has assisted me greatly in looking after the welfare of my family. I am a fulltime footballer and it's my bread and butter.

“There are so many families in the country which are struggling to provide meals for their families. Thank you Fiji FA.”

The Macuata-i-Wai native who has maternal links to Naividamu, Macuata, said the assistance would cater for his family of four for about a month. Catarogo was overwhelmed with the assistance by the parent body. “I stay at Davuilevu Housing in Nakasi with seven other members of my family,” he said.

“I am so thankful to Fiji FA for thinking about our welfare. It's a blessing for me since I earn my income by playing football. It's a great comfort and I thank the Fiji FA wholeheartedly.”

The 22-year-old, who is stuck in Labasa because of the COVID-19 pandemic regulations, said he had been keeping fit by training on his own.

“I just can't wait for the resumption of local football competitions.”

Fiji FA, in partnership with Punjas Group of Companies, launched the program on 8 June. More than 100 footballers consisting of eight men's Digicel Premier League and six women's Digicel Super League teams had been assisted with each footballer receiving $180 worth of groceries.
