Patel offers a message to the masses
THE president of Fiji Football Association has taken a lead role in tackling the misconceptions surrounding COVID-19 vaccine being administered in numerous places around the country.
Rajesh Patel waived away skepticism about the Australian-made AstraZeneca vaccine and supports Government’s efforts to campaign against vaccine hesitancy in the nation.
“It’s my duty to the country to humbly request all stakeholders associated with the beautiful sport of football to get vaccinated,” he said.
“Everyone misses football now because of the health measures in place.
“Please get vaccinated so that we all can return to play and watch football safely as soon as possible.”
Patel offered a message to the masses.
“I urge all Fijians to get vaccinated for COVID-19 so that we are able to prevent morbidity and mortality from serious health problems.
“We need to work together and eradicate a killer virus from the face of earth before our mortuaries are filled to the brim.
“So many Fijians have either lost their employment, are working on reduced hours or have taken leave without pay due to the pandemic, which has resulted in reduced productivity, business closures and decimation of the tourism industry.
“It’s not only about football or economic prosperity but most importantly to save lives, which is precious.”
Meanwhile, Patel confirmed being fully vaccinated after receiving his second jab of AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday, June 18.
