Message in the Kaila!

-

WHILE reading Issue No. 21 of the Kaila! in your informative paper yesterday, I was struck with wonder by the beautiful quote: “A man’s mind, stretched by new ideas, may never return to its original dimensions.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

The above quote simply means that man’s journey of new thoughts with new innovative ideas permanently change the minds!

The next page then revealed the true picture of the youths of the Nakorovatu Youth Club of Burelevu Village in Saivou, Ra, who have successfully ventured into commercial farming using their seven acres of land to plant tomatoes, zucchini, watermelons, cucumbers and bora beans. They have further plans for tilapia farming in the future.

My earnest request to all the youths across our nation is to take challenge and indulge in similar initiatives to achieve self-sustainability through dedication and hard work. Hard work brings fortune and improves the standard of living of a particular society that nurtures the young, robust individuals into radiant souls.

There is no denying the fact that in each province in our nation, there exists the rich, alluvial, arable land that can be converted into profitable cash crop farming, thus reducing the issues of poverty and, at the same time, less reliance on direct assistance from the Government in times of stark disaster like we are currently facing.

Cash crop farming is a lucrative enterprise that is seen to thrive in our nation. It only needs creative minds of committed young people to bolster the project that would certainly hinder them from unwanted activities and drive them more towards independence and self-reliance.

The power of any nation is in the hands of innovative youths who have huge potential to change the nation into dynamic models for others to follow.
