Fiji FA assistance

-

I REFER to the letter by Bhagwanji Bhindi of Nasinu (FT 23/6) regarding fantastic Fiji FA going beyond its normal parameters to support the players of various districts with food rations and assistance. You suggest that this gesture should be an eye opener and inspire other sporting bodies to have a similar program.

Mr Bhindi, at whose expense are these creative and practical schemes designed by the Fiji FA?

Where will the other sporting organisations get funding to do likewise?

Many district officials have also been heaping praises for Fiji FA, led by president Rajesh Patel.

From the outset, it points at a very glossy picture of Fiji FA forking out money from its own coffers.

I believe the OFC executive committee had unanimously approved funding to OFC’s member associations to help reduce the impact of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. I believe the solidarity fund was developed to support staff, volunteers, players, coaches, referees and the football community.

In addition, I believe it also provided assistance to countries directly affected by the Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Harold.

As reported, I believe OFC solidarity fund packages were distributed to 400 players and officials in partnership with a local company for the first phase of COVID-19.

Mr Bhindi, my million dollar question to Fiji FA, through their media releases, confirm to the soccer public the big dollars received, not even taking into consideration the local sponsorship. Then I will say fantastic Fiji FA all around.

Till then, I believe Fiji FA can follow all MOH protocols and enjoy the new normal. God bless all Fijians.
