What to do when car paint is fading?

- By LOSALINI VUKI

DID you know that your car’s paint is exposed to harmful UV rays produced by the Sun? So the best thing you could do to prevent paint fade is to park your car in the shade as often as possible.

Website carcility.com reports three ways to prevent faded car paint below.

Park in a shaded spot

It’s advisable to park in a covered place if possible. As previously said, the sun’s rays can be quite destructive to a car’s paint, so parking under cover, whether in a carport, garage, or even under a tree, is always a good idea. If you do decide to park under a tree, keep an eye out for bird droppings, which can harm your paint.

Wash your car on a regular basis

One of the best things you can do to protect your car’s paint from the sun and environmental harm is to wash it on a regular basis. Car owners who do not wash their vehicles on a regular basis will not only have a dirty vehicle, but they will also gather micro dirt, which will become embedded in the finish of the vehicle.

Run your automobile through the car wash or wash it yourself every few weeks. If you decide to do it yourself, make sure you use the correct tools—never just grab a rag and some dish soap from the kitchen!

Instead, use a soft sponge or mitt and a gentle cleanser made specially for vehicle paint. Use a different sponge to clean the wheels and tyres to avoid transmitting brake dust, sand, and other debris to your car’s surface, which might harm it.

After you’ve washed your car, wax it

Waxing your vehicle’s paint is a terrific method to add another layer of protection. When used after a wash, it will also make your vehicle look gorgeous and shining.

There are several types of waxes available, including paste, liquid, spray, and wipe-on/wipeoff. Whatever formula you choose, make sure to follow the application instructions to the letter. Waxing your auto every three months is recommended.
