School scenario

THANK you madam minister for clarifying that children who have not been vaccinated will be allowed in school. (FT 8/10) The education minister said the decision was based on the advice given by the World Health Organization and scientists who had researched COVID-19 transmission. “Based on the advice given by WHO and this also based on the research, the scientists have done and what they have found is that the transmission among kids is much lower compared with adults giving COVID to the kids.”

OK, transmission is much lower, so there is still a chance that a child can pass in the virus.

If non vaxxed children are allowed in the classroom, would parents of vaxxed children object? What then? Does the education ministry have a plan? Or will non vaxxed children have a classroom to themselves and be isolated from the others?

We recognise the invaluable contributions of postal workers to our societies and economies.

The vast postal network – involving millions of workers moving billions of pieces of mail through hundreds of thousands of post offices – is woven into our societies, connecting communities the world over.

As we continue to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, the resilience and commitment of these essential workers are an inspiration. We owe them our gratitude.

Amid the pandemic when life suddenly became locked down, the postal service personnel donned various hats, helping everyone fight back the disease.

Right from the distribution of testing kits to delivery of medicines and money, they have been providing these all, emerging as corona warriors who continued to work in the face of adverse conditions

As we “innovate to recover” — highlights how the postal sector is adapting to new realities and redefining itself, taking on new roles founded on digitalisation, e-commerce and financial services.

To embrace creative change and leverage technology as we together look to build forward better from the pandemic.

I congratulate the Universal Postal Union and the Fiji postal sector for your tireless efforts delivering mail, providing essential services, enabling trade, and promoting literacy.

Post Fiji has been in the country since the 1800s and continues to grow with new innovative services and products.

More than 3000 Fijians use Post Fiji on a daily basis to send letters and parcels or pay their bills.

Postal services play a great role in the daily life of human being by making the high level of access to digital communication. Wishing all a happy World Post Day, vinaka.
