Online music concert to raise funds for needy
LED by musicians, youths within Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata have taken to social media, uniting under one banner to fundraise and assist to give back to their people.
Under the slogan of ‘Domo Dua’ (One Voice), CBM United, a network founded by musician Iliesa Lesianawai has seen 70 young people from the three provinces converge to support relief and development projects in their rural homes.
In efforts to build resilience for people in the three provinces before the beginning of the cyclone season, the network will launch an online concert on the 15th of this month.
Network member, local musician and food entrepreneur Isireli Tua Mainavukea said music seemed the obvious way to accumulate resources.
“We looked within us to see what our strengths are, and we realised some of the biggest names in the music industry were from CBM.
It was obvious that music was the way to start our fundraising drive,” Mainavukea said.
Eight artists headed by Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro will perform in a high definition online recording produced by Sky Productions and Stage Tech Fiji and live-streamed across Twitter Spaces and Facebook Live on multi profiles and pages.
The free concert, modelled on the solesolevaki approach, calls on anyone with links to or love for Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata to enjoy the music and give soli towards the financial establishment of CBM United.
CBM Solesolevaki will include performances from Savuto, Ilisavani Cava, Elena Baravilala, Tua, Marika Nakete, Paulini Bautani and Sai Bakeinadakai.
