Clothing chain revamps outlet

- By IAN CHUTE

VALUE City (SP) Pte Ltd (VC) officially reopened their refurbished Challenge Plaza (formerly Vivrass Plaza) branch after nearly six months.

Father Mikaele Tikoisuva of Saint Joseph the Worker Parish in Tamavua led members of staff and management for a blessing of the shop that had been revamped from floor to ceiling with new counters and displays and airconditioning to give customers a more comfortable shopping experience.

The public will be welcomed back today to a newly renovated and brightly decorated shop as VC celebrates Pinktober with the Fiji Cancer Society (FCS) with donation bins instore.

VC managing director Vera Chute said Pinktober was the biggest event on their calendar and in previous years, the company would conduct fundraising events in each branch and with partners and corporate clients.

All funds raised would be matched by VC and given to the FCS but because of hardships caused by the pandemic, VC would just be making a donation this year.

Ms Chute said the refurbishment cost the company between $60,000 and $70,000 but was worth every cent spent.

“We have seen a lot of new customers coming in looking for affordable options and they come here knowing that VC sells good quality products,” she said.

She also said the shop had been closed since the second wave of COVID-19 began its siege of Viti Levu and that seven other branches in containment areas had to shut their doors because of COVID-19 restrictions, including the Nadi and Lautoka branches which had bounced back quite quickly.

“Most restrictions have been eased but we still have to observe the capacity limits.

“We are just hoping that as things get back to normal, we will too.”
