Navua tests team

- By PAULINI CURUQARA

THE Navua football side is expecting a tough game against Nadroga when the Digicel Premier League resumes this weekend.

Coach Amit Prakash said they wont take their opponent lightly.

“They recruited two players during this transfer window and they are very good side,” he said.

“They will come out strong against us next week.”

The Rampur Primary School teacher said there was a lot of work to be done and one area was their fitness which was a problem for them.

This was after they went down 4-2 to Suva in a friendly match at the Fiji Football Academy ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday.

“We are working hard in that area and having the player’s combination was touch since we coming back from a six-month break and having the players play together was a little unstable but we are getting there,’ he said.

“The score was not a major concern for us as I wanted to test all the players, that is why we had two friendly matches.

“We had 20 players who are part of the squad and testing them in the two days match gave me a fair idea on what players needs more workouts and what players are up to par.

“One area that we need to work on is our mind set, decision making on the field which is very important component in our game plan.

“I saw poor decisions on the field, undecided and to pressured and now we will have to work on those areas.”

He added in terms of injuries there wasn’t any serious concerns but two players are recovering are Monit Chand and Brian Charitar who will join the team this week.

Thomas Dunn and Kritesh Prasad are part of the men’s national team that is in camp in Ba.

Navua takes on Nadroga at 4.30pm on Sunday at the Uprising Sports Complex in Pacific Harbour.

The Navua side sits on 7th spot on the ladder with five points while Nadroga is on eighth spot with two points.
