Abuse of power
I BELIEVE no politician should use the power vested in him to do the wrong things.

Car park
THANKS to the RB Patel Lautoka for upgrading their open car park. It is much more convenient and easy to use now as well as it looks neat.

Lawyer charged
A RECENTLY admitted lawyer was charged for impersonating himself as Brigadier General Mohammed Aziz and dishonestly obtaining $118,350 from an international business last year (FT 22/12). Given the large sum involved it will be interesting to know what was this payment for.

Year 2022
“We are squeezed for a purpose, but not constrained from productive action. This is an important distinction to remember and some may not recognise the difference. The pressing of 2020 and 2021 has not crushed us. We certainly didn’t desire it, either. Let the pressing be used in you as intended — to get from you what God desires.” A.J. Mathieu.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022 to fellow writers and readers.

Walkouts
DURING the past couple of years, there have been numerous high profile walkouts. I wonder if those who were part of the walkouts ever managed to achieve anything. MOHAMMED IMRAZ JANIF Natabua, Lautoka
Naviti Resort
MY family spent our preChristmas bonding at the Naviti Resort, and I compliment the resort’s staff and management for the wonderful service. We checked-in on Wednesday evening, and the kids and adults, alike, enjoyed staying there. The resort was clean. There were tourists, and this brought back memories of pre-COVID-19. The service was great. Vinaka vakalevu team Naviti for making our stay enjoyable!

Resources
The Mineral Resources Department should learn from the PNG experiences. The environment degradation once copper mining is allowed to take place in Namosi can never be reversed. Wishes and views of landowners must and should be respected.
Naive and condescending to tell landowners that the State has the right to explore (FT/23/12) knowing landowners do not consent on their land to be mined.
