BUSINESSMAN Nilesh Patel has opened a Shriji Spice World outlet at the Damodar City Centre in Suva employing six staff members.

This is the 11th outlet according to the owner which cost about $300,000 worth of investment. The shop opened on December 22.

Mr Patel said they had brought consumers a range of Indian products from spices, groceries and homeware items.

“This has never been made available in Fiji as these were directly from India,” he said.

“No one has ever had a shop which had Indian grocery, snacks or Indian home ware and appliances.”

He said the Ranchhodray Spyran masala which was an original Indian masala had never been made available in the country before. The owner said they had also imported quality Indian stationary of the Flair brand available instore. Mr Patel said spices would be made available soon because there was a delay with the ship.

Shop manager Madhu Ram said there was a variety of items from India available in the shop.

“Once we get access to our container — probably by early January — we will have the stocks available. However we have a variety of cheddar chips for snacks, as well as bathroom mats and appliances.

“Our spices are not available anywhere else in Fiji,” she said.

“The reason the shop is located in Damodar City is because of its ideal location and the turn on opening day was good . We had a lot of customers come by the store as we were really busy during the opening.”

She said since it was Christmas, they had a lot of gift ideas as well as perfume sets, toys for children and more. In total the company has 11 shops out of which five were variety shops with a total of 96 staff members.

Shriji Spice World is open from 10am to 8pm every day.
