Nansen recalls her years
FOR Ruby Nansen it was her passion and loyalty to Post Fiji which made her love her work of 34 years with the company. Ms Nansen said her last position in the company was as the manager for Central Eastern and she retired in 2019.
She said one of the highlights of her career was when Post Fiji evolved from manual to technology as she was one of the pioneers.
“I was in ICT at that time MIS, so we were actually the first people that set up the ICT and brought in the new point of sale. So we were instrumental in bringing the point of sale and automating most of our post offices,” she said.
She said she never thought of moving elsewhere.
“I just loved the type of work that we did and was very passionate about our customers and our people. So that’s what kept me there all those years.”
Ms Nansen said Post Fiji had the longest reach and had great potential as they could grow to no limits.
“There’s so much that Post Fiji can do and they just need to tap into that and they just need to be innovative and move with technology.”
She said this was the way to go nowadays as well as to diversify because Post Fiji was the first to do bill pay, bill printing while others had come onboard now.
“They need to be innovative and keep moving on because with their reach, they can reach the whole of Fiji,” she added. They have 58 post offices and many agencies so they actually have the reach of the country.”
