Lend a hand to the poor

-

GREETINGS from NCCI. It’s my pleasure to pen a few words for this festive season.

2021 was a remarkable year when we were still in the grips of COVID- 19 but we are grateful to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, doctors, nurses and all other paramedical staff that worked round the clock to take care of the health of our nation splendidly.

They also achieved to immunise the nation in a record period thus allowing national and international borders to open.

The business community that largely suffered from this pandemic is now feeling optimistic about the recovery efforts.

Almost all the hotels and resorts in the west and elsewhere are now open for business, in full swing and welcoming tourists back to where “Happiness is Found”.

Nadi that suffered the most from the pandemic is slowly but surely getting back to business.

The hive of activities reminds us of pre-Covid days and we feel it will not be too long for us to recover completely.

We are however aware of the threats of the third or even fourth waves.

The Delta variant is a real threat against which we must be well prepared to guard.

We therefore must continue to take all the necessary precautions such as social distances, wearing of masks, hand sanitisers and avoid unnecessary movements or gatherings.

Everyone should also get the booster doses that are widely available asap.

This is also the time for cyclones and floods (next three to four months) for which we should be taking all the preventive measures from any calamity.

Everyone should be responsible for their safety.

Although we are on the road to socio-economic recovery there are many unfortunate members of our community that need to be supported.

We should therefore donate generously and lend a hand to the poor and underprivileged.

We wish everyone safe and healthy festivities.
