The Fiji Times

Time to reflect

-

AS year 2021 is being wrapped up and as we congregate to celebrate Christmas and New Year, it’s an opportune time to ponder and reflect on the past year and where we want to be in 2022.

Thousands of people depend on The Fiji Times for the paper gives us accurate news, forthright opinions, local and overseas sporting news, entertainment and peoples column etc. I believe the opinion column in the Saturday Times have taken readers by storm. We are given the opportunity to read the views of the many politicians, academics, professionals, trade unionists and the like.

The letters column provides an opportunity to the correspondents to write their views on topics of interest to the public. I believe that in 2022, this column should give prominence to those who give enlightening and optional views on topics of interest to the public and not to those who just pluck news from

The Fiji Times and rephrase it. We must maintain the depth of this very important column.

There are many correspondents who have shown limitless loyalty and commitment towards the column and these writers must not feel that preference is given to a selected few.

When we mirror 2021, we reflect on the difficult times we have been through, no access to The Fiji Times, no access to our favourite games, no access to schools and our personal circumstances affected in many ways by

COVID-19. As we go on to celebrate Christmas and New Year, we must follow all the COVID-19 protocols for we are not out of the woods yet. Finally, on behalf of the thousands of avid readers of the peoples newspaper, I wish each and everyone a meaningful Christmas and a rewarding 2022. ARUN PRASAD Dilkusha, Nausori
