THERE will be a decrease in retail fuel prices for gas and certain fuels such as motor spirit and premix.

According to the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC), it had determined the new regulated prices of unleaded petrol, premix, kerosene, diesel and LPG for January 2022 which come into effect from Saturday, January 1 2022.

The commission revealed the prices as follow:

Retail Fuel Prices

■ Motor spirit from $2.75 to $2.74 per litre, a decrease of 1 cent per litre;

■ Premix from $2.35 to $2.34 per litre, a decrease of 1 cent per litre;

■ Kerosene price remains unchanged at $1.82 per litre; and

■ Diesel from $2.31 to $2.34 per litre, an increase of 3 cents per litre.

Retail LPG Prices

■ 12kg cylinder from $48.30 to $46.24, a decrease of $2.06 per 12kg cylinder;

■ Bulk gas from $3.42 to $3.27, a decrease of 15 cents per kg; and

■ Autogas from $2.29 to $2.19, a decrease of 10 cents per litre.

The FCCC stated the fuel and LPG price review implemented by the commission followed a onemonth lag period, as such, the January 2022 fuel and LPG prices were based on the importations made in November 2021 by fuel and LPG companies.

The FCCC also used the Saudi Aramco Butane Contract Price (CP) for December 2021 to determine the LPG price for January 2022.

The commission stated Fiji was directly impacted by world market prices for refined oils and LPG.

As such, any changes to world market prices would be reflected in fuel and LPG prices in Fiji.

The next fuel and LPG price review would be conducted by the FCCC on February 1, 2022.
