That happiness

DURING Christmas, I could see a lot of individuals were cheerful, joyful, delighted and happy all around the community. If only the happiness we enjoy during Christmas could be the same kind of happiness we share during hardships and stressful times. Imagine the change it can bring!

Living in the new world

AT times, nature seems to be having its own way in this strange global COVID world that is beyond our control. But we always aim for a better tomorrow with divine guidance. As life goes on, it should be a challenge to keep up, to catch up, as we look ahead towards our destiny. God gave us the gift of life. It’s up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.

Citizenship status

MY wife’s passport is due for renewal as it has expired, yet she has a valid birth certificate. Does that render her “non-citizenship status”? I don’t know. Can the director of the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, Ashwin Raj, smartly clarify and explain her citizenship status? Kemudou. ANTHONY SAHAI

Have a heart

THEY lower the retirement age to 55 but keep engaging an 81-year-old man to do their tidings under the guise of an inquiry of the OAG. Have a heart and give the man time to retire respectfully and find time to enjoy with his family, friends and relatives. No one deserves to be worked to death.

Road sign

THE Waikalou Rd sign along the Queens Rd in Navua is missing. Will someone in authority please attend to its immediate replacement for the express benefit of all unsuspecting visitors? Many thanks well in advance. RONNIE CHANG Martintar Nadi

Lal’s citizenship

THE late Professsor Lal was not a Fiji citizen because I believe the laws of Fiji at the time did not allow dual citizenship. This point seems to have escaped the Fiji commissioner for human rights. JIM SANDAY
