SUGAR cane growers will now have access to an online platform that offers services by the Sugar Cane Growers Fund that was officially launched in Lautoka.
SCGF chief executive officer Raj Sharma said they were committed to bringing innovative and modern financial solutions for their growers.
“From January 10, SCGF puts live the mySCGF App, mySCGF Online Portal Service and SCGF SMS Alert Services for their growers.
“There will be a major launch of the services when the environment stabilises and is safe to do so,” said Mr Raj.
He said they launched the online portals to meet the needs of the people as the system was expected to be further enhanced by end of the month.
Mr Sharma said SCGF acquired a modern and robust information technology system from an Indian ICT provider, namely Sesame Software Pvt Ltd, who co-partnered with local provider Datec Fiji Ltd.
“It has been a very exciting and challenging journey for the last 20 months for the change, where the first phase of cutover was done on August 24, 2020, and gradually other aspects of the business moved to the new platform, which has online loan approvals, automated documentation and even can be operated from the cane fields.”
He said the system played an important role during the lockdown of the past months.
SCGF Information Technology manager Sheetal Shalini said the completion of the project was a good learning experience for everyone amid COVID-19 constraints in India and Fiji
She acknowledged the vendors and also SCGF board for understanding the challenges that were faced over the past months.
