Suva remains undefeated to book final spot

- By ROHIT DEO

UNDEFEATED Suva booked a date in the final of the 2022 Digicel Fiji FACT against Labasa after a narrow 2-1 win over Lautoka in the second semi-final at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park yesterday.

The win sees Suva remain undefeated this season and the whites are just one win away to successfully defend their title which they won in 2020.

Suva started on a high when Ni-Vanuatu striker Azariah Soromon put the whites ahead with a beautiful finish in the second minute.

Both teams tried hard but failed to find the rhythm in attacking as they rested with Suva leading 1-nil at halftime.

Lautoka came firing out of the blocks in the second spell as star striker Sairusi Nalaubu equalised in the 46th minute heading home from a corner kick.

Soromon put the whites ahead just four minutes later after Lautoka failed to clear the ball from a free kick.

The goal in the 50th minute proved to be the winning goal for the whites.

Lautoka, which were trying to win their first FACT title in more than 20 years, tried hard but failed to find the equaliser.

Suva president Ritesh Pratap said his side was slowly reaping fruits of the hard work they had been putting in.

Suva plays Labasa in the final at 3pm today.
