FLOWERS are suitable for any of life's special occasions, whether it's a birthday or a graduation bouquet, it's a great way to leave a long lasting impression even when they have short life spans. Here are some tips to ensure the longevity of your flowers.

1. Cut the stems and prune:

Clip the stem at a 45-degree angle and remove any extra leaves that lay at the underline of the container of water before placing them into their vase and continuing this every few days is an important task. This is because this ensures that flower stems absorb more water and it reduces foliage, helping the water remain clean without any foul odors.

2. Prepare your vase and location:

Pick a vase with a suitable size according to your bouquet and then choose a location. Your flowers will last longer in cooler temperatures so make sure to avoid places with direct sunlight or appliances that generate heat.

Try to avoid places near colder areas like near ceiling fans or cooling vents as it will cause your flowers dehydrate faster.

Also beware of fruit as it releases ethylene gas which causes your flowers to wilt. 3. Change the water every two days:

Fill your vase with fresh cold water two-thirds of the way to the top. Fresh clean water will help your flowers last longer so make sure to remove your flowers every two or three days, rinse the vase and fill it with fresh water every two or three days.

As an added bonus, here are some additional household items that you can add to ensure your flowers remain fresh longer:

Add soda: adding just a ¼ cup of soda into your vase as the sugar makes the blooms longer and adds a sweet smell.

Add a copper coin: adding this acts as an acidifier as it removes the bacteria in your flowers making it open up faster and last longer.

Add sugar and vinegar: You can make your very own preservative by dissolving three tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of sugar per one liter of warm water.

The sugar will nourish the flowers and the bacteria will inhibit bacterial growth. With these tips, now you can enjoy the beauty of your flowers a lot longer than you usually.
