Fuli opts to take two teams
THE Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will use the Oceania Rugby Super Sevens in New Zealand to sharpen its game management in preparation for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England from July 28-August 8.
Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli has opted to take two teams – the other known as the Fijiana Selection - to give more players exposure and game time at the international level.
“We will have two teams this week,” Fuli said.
“Majority of the players have been identified, developed and mounded to play in international competitions.
“It is good timing for us to have some sort of rugby in New Zealand during the Oceania 7s.
“Our aim this week is to have positive momentum in terms of the different departments of play.
“We will focus on the consistency of our restarts, ball in play and how we manage the game until the last whistle.”
Fuli said it would be a great opportunity for all the squad members to play against their Pacific sisters.
He said this would get the best out of them as they built the right combinations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.”
“We are blessed with the number of talents that are playing in our local tournaments,” Fuli said.
“We have managed to identify some great potential to join our depth chart.”
The Oceania Rugby Super Sevens will be held at the Navigation Homes Stadium in Auckland and starts tomorrow.
