‘Lynda’s claims not worth commenting on’

- By MERI RADINIBARAVI

THE People’s Alliance party deputy leader Lynda Tabuya’s comment that Energy Fiji Ltd’s (EFL) service “sucks” shows that “some of these politicians, their lives, their policies and the actions they have taken — are dictated by being dramatic on Facebook”.

FijiFirst party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said this during a news conference this week in reference to comments Ms Tabuya posted on her Facebook page questioning EFL’s 5 per cent pay increase to workers below senior management level.

She said in her post: “How can the A-G, the director, the chair and the Japanese guy stand here and smile and grin with achievement of profits when their service sucks?”.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Ms

Tabuya’s comments were “really not worth commenting on” and it “fundamentally showed” none of the politicians had a game plan.

“And frankly, I think they don’t, in fact, have the capacity to understand what is the bulk work of what needs to be done, as a government, in terms of policy making,” he said.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said policies were not made by a person “just because you will get 5000 likes”.

The A-G said it was unfortunate there was no recognition of the fact that all staff members below senior management level got a 5 per cent pay raise.

“I shudder to think, if they ever were in government, what would happen.

“Because these politicians seem to be driven by making dramatic statements or statements that will get people’s attention, as opposed to sitting down and making long-term policy decisions.”
