Cancer fundraising campaign!

-

I SINCERELY acknowledge Motibhai Group’s role in organising and making Fiji’s biggest cancer fundraising campaign a success.

I have been following the cancer fundraising campaign for

Exciting rugby

years and I am pleased that it turned out to be bigger and better. What started with humble beginnings as a small interaction over a cup of coffee at the iconic Suva Central Complex in 2006, turned 17 years old and has

WILL the Vodafone Fiji Bati or Papua New Guinea Kumuls stand tall on Saturday? This is an exciting and pulsating match as the Kumuls are determined to extend a winning streak against their Melanesian neighbours.

The Fiji Bati has some new faces but are boosted by the presence of some experienced players such as Naiqama, Ravalawa, Valemei, Kamikamica and Sivo. This bone-crunching match will boil down to concentration and performances of playmakers on both sides. The Kumuls have an edge going into the match but one should be surprised with the Bati creating an upset.

Meanwhile, on the domestic rugby scene, Nadi faces an uphill battle this weekend as their western neighbours are aiming for nothing better than victory. provided patient care and support and helped save the lives of thousands of patients over the years.

I agree with Motibhai Group executive director Bhupendra Patel that the initiative would

What a weekend of Super Rugby it will be and some sore bodies once the dust settles.

Flag-bearer attire

NEXT time we decide to have a flag-bearer lead our team at the opening of a sporting event whether it be regional or international, can we at least dress them up well?

The attire our flag-bearer had at the opening of the ongoing 2022 Pacific Mini Games is truly appalling. The masi is a traditional attire and must be worn the right and proper way. Not just to piece together to cover someone up with.

What our flag bearer wore is truly appalling not have been successful without the overwhelming support of the business community and the stakeholders who generously contributed towards this noble cause over the years.

This initiative by Motibhai and embarrassing. As a traditional attire, the masi represents our culture and tradition and must be worn with pride and dignity.

The design, pleats and arrangement represent the uniqueness of our culture. My humble request to the management team. For the closing ceremony, please ensure our flag-bearer is dressed up in the true Fijian way.

Breast and prostate cancer

OUR yearly Pink October month is just around the corner for our women who are suffering from breast cancer. As a husband of a woman survivor of breast cancer,

Group has come a long way and has many more years to go. I’m proud of Motibhai Group and I pay tribute for the work done.

RAJNESH ISHWAR LINGAM Nadawa, Nasinu I’m urging all men out there to stand with women in fighting the stigma and stereotyping comments that our breast cancer survivors face every day.

I will always reiterate the same statement again, my advice to all women in Fiji, especially young women is to please go for an early check-up at the nearest hospital.

Since the month of November is dedicated to men’s health awareness by Fiji Cancer Society, especially on prostate cancer, I would say the same thing to our men and boys, please go for an early check-up at the nearest hospital.

I hope my message can save few lives of women and men out there after reading this letter and Pinktober awareness should not focus on the month of October only, it should be a daily awareness as well.
