Prices of local milk, butter
THE price of local milk and butter is regrettably projected to increase as the inflation rate is expected to rise by seven per cent.
This inevitable amendment will no doubt further strain the already shoestring financial budgets of struggling Fijians.
Alternatively, I believe we just have to become a lot more frugal and “kanjoos” with our spending routines in order to adapt.
By the way, since we have an abundance of cows grazing in the meadows, I am somewhat baffled as to why our once renowned dairy industry cannot meet the local supply and demand, and that too at a reasonable cost.
Anyway, with the unfortunate price rise, there will be no more adding of “doodoo” in my daily cup of tea till further notice.
I am also reluctant to invest in a cow as I fear I will mercilessly milk the poor animal dry every morning.

Lautoka that “some” people are not realising the hardship and suffering of our country and its people.
Some clearly cannot see beyond the freebies while “some” flawed in their unrealistic logic.
The suffering on the ground is real. Prices are rising up for basic food items and fuel.
These are some things that we use daily.
The freebies will be only until the election comes closer after that the reality is what we have to live with.
Imagine getting $50-$100 which vanishes just in one time shopping in a supermarket. It’s like going round in circles, get from one hand and lose it in just a few minutes only to go back to base.
We have seen the downfall in the sugar and tourism industry heavily depending on the status of the virus which determines when it’s appropriate for tourists to travel which brings in the much-needed foreign exchange.
The uncertainty is obvious and the declining economy with that huge debt level is not something that can be swept under the carpet.
So, to say or suggest that Fiji is better off than other countries is just hiding away reality.
The great thing is many eyes have opened up, who are also facing the harsh reality and cannot wait for the much-needed change.
Feel the reality. We are getting there.
