District pride STAGE SET FOR WOMEN’S IDC

-

THE stage is all set for the 2022 Digicel Women’s Inter District Championship which kicks off this weekend at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf says this year’s women’s IDC will be interesting and thrilling.

“Well the fans can expect fireworks to explode when the tournament kicks off this Friday with four interesting matches,” said Yusuf.

“All eight teams have prepared well for the tournament because they had more than a month to prepare,”

“The six teams from the Digicel Women’s Super League and the newly promoted Nadi and southern zone champions Navua team will be part of the tournament.”

Yusuf says the teams will be boosted with the return of Digicel Kulas today from their Australia tour.

“The national team players will bring a lot of experience just returning from the Pacific Four Nations Cup tournament which will make the whole tournament more exciting,” Yusuf said.

“The teams also know how important the group stages will be as they will have the opportunity to play the knockout stages in Nadi during the All-in-One Restaurant and Cakes Pacific Community Cup.

“There is something the teams will play for and we cannot predict whom all will qualify for the semi-finals and finals.

“Though Labasa and Ba look favorite I guess they should not underestimate other teams.”

He urged fans to come out in numbers and support women’s football in the country.

“We urge fans to give their full support to the women footballers as your presence will surely boost them,” said Yusuf.
