Service ‘best form of worship’

- By PAULIASI MATEBOTO

JAMAL Khan believes service to humanity is not only the best activity in life, it is also the best form of worship.

The accountant and community worker said that was the reason he decided to contest the 2022 General Election on a Fiji Labour Party (FLP) ticket.

He said there was a lot of untapped potential in the country and he hoped to bring that out with the assistance of fellow FLP candidates.

Mr Khan has been associated with various organisations in the country and served in many capacities such as president and secretary for the Fiji Muslim League Valelevu branch.

An accountant by profession, he believes his experience would be an advantage as he has developed research and analytical skills and demonstrated capacities to exercise initiative, and his ability to manage risks.

The Nasinu resident said one issue he would advocate on as the country headed to the December 14 polls, was housing.

Mr Khan claimed there were too many people living in informal settlements and while they had a roof over their heads, living standards continued to deteriorate.

“There is an acute shortage of decent, affordable housing for families in the low and medium income groups.”

When asked why he chose the Fiji Labour Party, he said the party’s vision, mission and objective for the country was inclusive, and this was something he believed in.

He said he has been with the party for the past 12 months as a board member and decided to be part of the candidate line-up this year.

Mr Khan said the Fiji Labour Party advocated for farmers, workers’ rights and the most vulnerable in society.
