Markings, human activity Parking spaces
I WOULD like to thank Kamal Prasad for personally replying to our letters (Ajai Kumar and myself) in The Fiji Times of 16/11/22 in which he explained how these taxi markings came about.
In this case he explained that ‘the taxi ranks on Lodhia St as an alternative to the original Nadi Market Stand site’.
In my opinion there is a marked difference in the alternative provided. While eight taxi spaces at the market site are obviously viable where there are many potential customers, the alternative is in a quiet residential area in Lodhia St where there are hardly any pedestrians let alone a person from the market.
So far I have only seen a lone taxi parked there.
So in reality Mr Prasad if you allocate three stands for the taxis at Lodhia St the remaining five could then be effectively used by us citizens. That’s a win-win situation for the taxis and for us.
Though the town council agreed in June, I attended a meeting with the new council executives on October 14, 22 where they expressed concern about this issue.
So please Mr Prasad, help us out. NORMAN YEE
Martintar, Nadi until the elections are held, they are in a caretaker mode and should not make decisions on substantive matters.
Who were represented by private vehicle owners who out number taxis?
It’s not only a part of Lodhia St where free spaces have been indiscriminately converted to taxi ranks. Have a look at Wailoaloa Rd.
