Khatri flexes his muscles among Australia’s best

- By PAULINI CURUQARA

FOR Filesh Khatri, bodybuilding is not just a sport, but it's a passion that requires hard work and determination.

He fell in love with the sport while he was at the University of the South Pacific studying Bachelors in Accounting.

He started training and got motivated to try the sport when he noticed how it helped him stay healthy and fit.

He then grew close to watching bodybuilding events locally and internationally until he came across a competition that was held in Australia.

“It's a natural bodybuilding competition called ICN (I Compete Natural) which is one of Australia's popular bodybuilding show,” Khatri said.

“I participated in the state ICN Victoria show in Melbourne, Australia held on October 1 and received the medal for making it into the top list.

“I've been training for this sport for almost seven years now. I competed in my first Mr Fiji in 2018 where I competed in the men's physique competition where I was placed in the top five. During the four-year break and also due to COVID, I took an off-season program and kept training to build more muscles.”

The 30-year-old accountant said he had to give up a lot of things in order to keep his body fit and was grateful for the support shown by his family.

“In terms of bodybuilding diet is important that whatever training you're doing, it should be supported with the right nutritions.”

He added that being the only Fijian taking part in the ICN tournament abroad, it was a proud moment for him and his family.

He hopes to continue his training and will take part in any local or international tournament when the time is right.
