Patel greets battling teams

- ■ Rajesh Patel

IT is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you all to the 2022 All in One Cakes & Restaurant Pacific Community Cup tournament at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

As you all know the tournament returns after a lapse of two years as it was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s tournament is hosted in Fiji and we will be here to welcome each of you with open arms.

2022 has indeed been a wonderful year of football in Fiji and no doubt the 2022 Pacific Community Cup will be the same.

We successfully completed our season with our Courts IDC this month with the quality and exciting football displayed by all the 20 districts in the three divisions and the same is expected during the 2022 Pacific Community Cup here at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Football fans around the country love the Pacific Community Cup Tournament because it brings to the fore, fierce country pride and rivalry and also brings our people back together.

Not only will that but Fiji FA as part of its social and corporate responsibility will be donating all the funds raised from the gate-taking to the WOW Kids Fiji.

We have the Football for Humanity program which is for our former player’s welfare but as corporate social responsibility, we thought we partner with “WOW Kids” which cares about the deadly disease Cancer diagnosed kids

This is the first tournament from where the funds will go to WOW Kids Fiji. There won’t be any profit from this tournament.

Football continues to be a force for unity all over the globe and the Pacific Community Cup is an example of this, this would not be possible without the support of our sponsors.

I would like to heartily thank the management of All in One Cakes & Restaurants for coming on board and sponsoring the sixth Pacific Community Cup.

To all players and officials, I would like you to take a professional approach toward the game. Develop your talents, fine-tune your game, innovate and bring in the best tactics to take your game to the next level.

On behalf of the Fiji FA Board and the entire football fraternity, I wish all the best to all the participating teams in the All in One Cakes & Restaurants 2022 Pacific Community Cup.

May the spirit of fair play and good sportsmanship succeed.

Thank You.
