Ba aims to bury jinx
THE most successful team in Fiji’s history and the traditional giants of Fiji football, Ba FC has not yet hoisted the Pacific Community Cup trophy as it enters its ninth edition.
The Men in Black side will come out with a wounded pride and fans can look forward to a new intensity in their game with the inclusion of the three Argentinians in their squad.
The side is coached by former Ba and national midfielder Roneel Kumar who has been working hard to build a formidable team after the departure of many senior players in the midseason.
Kumar sure will come up with a strategy for success at the eagerly anticipated All in One Cakes & Restaurant Pacific Community Cup at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The 2022 All in One Cakes & Restaurant Pacific Community Cup campaign will require them to be dominant in their pool matches, something they have not done in recent tournaments. With the present fierce level of competition, they do not have a safe passage to the finals and will need to set the record straight from the opening whistle of their matches.
The young Ba brigadiers which include Digicel Junior Boys hero Nabil Begg Malakai Rere, Emosi Navaba, Kini Madigi, Sumeet Goundar, Jonetanu
Newa, Rahul Naresh, Shivneel Singh, Raj Pillay Peceli Sukabula, Entonio Digalau, Faazil Ali will be out to prove all critics wrong with their gallant performance at the 2022 Courts IDC in Suva last month.
The Men in Black start their campaign against Nadi at 6.45pm on Thursday, November 24, and face the USA All-Stars on the second day on Friday, November 25 at 4.45pm. Their final pool match will be against AUFFI All-Stars on Saturday at 12.30pm. ■
