Late Japanese goals break German hearts

DAYS after Saudi Arabia upset Argentina 2-1, football fans witnessed another World Cup shock, as substitute­s Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano scored late goals to give Japan a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Germany.

Ilkay Gundogan gave four-time champions Germany the lead with a penalty, but Doan, who plays for German club Freiburg, pounced on a rebound to equalise after goalkeeper Manuel Neuer blocked a shot from Takumi Minamino.

Asano, who plays for German club Bochum, sprinted clear of Nico
