Minister advises voters to be wary of parties

- By SITERI SAUVAKACOLO

EDUCATION Minister Premila Kumar says The People’s Alliance (PA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka is using TikTok to justify his past and convince Fijians of Indian descent to vote for him.

At a FijiFirst party rally in Rakiraki this week, she pleaded with the crowd to choose well this election and reminded them of what her government had done in Rakiraki.

Rabuka’s first-ever TikTok video titled ‘Fiji salesgirl meets special customer’ has attracted more than 206,000 views and 1959 shares two days after it was uploaded.

“If you choose PA, it’s a party putting out TikTok to convince the Indo-Fijians that you should not fear him.

“It’s a party putting out a promotional video where he’s trying to tell Indo-Fijians not to fear him, why he has to justify this, because his past has haunted him.

“Today, he’s trying to tell us don’t fear, don’t worry.”

Mrs Kumar also pleaded with the people of Ra and neighbouring communities not to vote for the National Federation Party (NFP) labelling it a ‘waste of time’.

“NFP is a party that has not proven itself, it is a party that just wants to partner with PA and there’s no chance for them to be on their own. They fought an election and got a little over five per cent and they know they won’t be able to form government so why vote for a party with no proven record. Biman Prasad is not telling us exactly what he is doing, we have a proven record, so ladies and gentlemen never ever vote for NFP, you have a wonderful choice here and you must vote for FijiFirst.”

At the rally, the education minister told voters to be wary of other political parties that continued to have infighting and had leaders who were vying for power.
