New restaurant provides employment to 28
OVER the past few months, the Fijian Government has seen a number of businesses opening around the country, simply indicating investor confidence as our economy makes a comeback.
This, according to Minister for Infrastructure and Mineral Resources Jone Usamate while officiating at the opening of the ‘The Tasty Trails’ restaurant in Nasese on Thursday.
Mr Usamate acknowledged the hard work of local businessman and restaurant owner of The Tasty Trails, Virendra Chand.
“With the newly established restaurant, a total of 28 Fijians are employed within this venture,” Mr Usamate said.
“So, Virendra, your investment of $50,000 is a source of employment for Fijians.
“When Fijians like Virendra invest in our country, it sends out a positive sign to foreign investors that there is confidence to invest in Fiji.
“On top of that, we cannot forget the indirect benefits the new establishment has on the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who are supporting and supplying food and essential items to Virendra’s business – whether it is someone supplying vegetables and even delivering trucks.
“These are supporting industries, the job creators which create ripple benefits to Fijian economy such as creating more opportunities to support livelihood.”
Mr Usamate said Government would continue to do whatever it took to enable business continuity now and in the future.
“I want to reiterate that the commitment of domestic investors remains critical to reinvigorate the Fijian economy.”
“We remain within reach to assist you.”
Mr Chand is also the owner of local eatery ‘Krazy Bites’ located in Pilling Rd, Nasinu.
“Initially from the time we opened the shop in Pilling Rd, we always hoped to open another shop in Suva,” the 33-yearold said.
“My wife and I were lucky to get this place so we decided to invest here and open our second food business here.”
The young entrepreneur added he also planned to expand his business in the future.
