Peaceful election
THE Fiji Times picture of FEO staff members busy at work (FT 23/11) to maintain the rule of law by NGO Collations on Human Rights (NGOCHR) seems to be well prepared for a peaceful election.
As the election date is nearing, the politicians’ assuring voices are echoed to be heard by every Fijian wherever they are. We all have our democratic rights to choose the government of the day. Every vote is counted for the best person to deliver to the best of his capability and popularity.
For those of us who have gone through the worst, are appealed to forgive and forget as we are in the new changed modern world to see the best and the peaceful election soon. We all pray for the safety, progress and prosperity of our beloved Fiji.
Let’s learn from yesterday, live peacefully today and hope for the best tomorrow.
The best team wins the race on the level playing field.
God bless Fiji.

Bainimarama government
I AM flabbergasted by the antics of NFP leader Biman Prasad in regards to his venomous attack on Bainimarama, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the FijiFirst party.
His diabrate that the Bainimarama-led Government has done nothing good for the people of Fiji is a farce. I believe every man and his dog knows what the FijiFirst Government has done for all Fijians. I have been to many places, particularly to rural areas, and have noted developments in terms of roads, water, electricity and other infrastructure.
Biman hails from Bua and I am sure he has seen and benefited from the developments there. Prior to the Bainimarama Government coming into power, most of the projects for water, electricity and roads were in the pipe line.
And the pipes were too long and the projects never saw the light of the day, until the Bainimarama Government came into power.
Today, most of the households have electricity and drinking water. It is good to inform people about loans and debts but it foolhardy only to talk about debt and not informing how and where the borrowed money was used. Unless, one wants to be an ostrich!
As for the education sector, no government has done what Bainimarama has done. Free education for primary and secondary students, bus fare subsidies for students, free textbooks for students, salary for ECE teachers, education grants for the running of the primary and secondary schools and the list goes on.
The TELS and Toppers Scholarship provide much relief to parents and opportunities to students. The “no child be left behind” policy” gives everyone equal opportunity. There is no discrimination, not even positive discrimination. I am perplexed at the stance taken by Biman as if nothing good has come under the Bainimarama leadership. People are no longer gullible. They will not be fooled.
I agree that our health system needs an overall. No qualms about that. The time for Band-Aid solution is over. The health system must go through a major surgery. I am positive that having fixed and taken care of water, electr icity and roads in most of the areas, the Bainimarama Government will give priority to the health system in 2023 and beyond. Our people certainly deserve a better, modern and affordable health facilities.

Sexual harassment
RECENT study by the
FWRM shows that one in five women have experienced sexual harassment in their workplace (FT 25/11/21 page 2).
To the survivors, remember it’s not your fault or to blame yourself if you are being sexually harassed in your workplace by those in power or higher authority. Say no to sexual harassment which can even result in you losing your job.
Shame to these sexual predators who camouflage themselves and claim to be honest human beings and man of principle.
Stop sexual harassment in your workplace and public utilities.

I WOULD like to express my utmost disgust and disappointment to the hotels charging locals tourist rates.
Like this in 2021, who did they turn to?
When there were no tourists, we the locals were there and we will always be here supporting them.
We deserve better! MAUREEN THAGGARD Suva
