Singh to focus on issues affecting nation

ANIRUDH Singh has worked as a policeman, soldier and lawyer.

And the 63-year-old from Bua, Vanua Levu, believes his experience­s in the three fields will be put to good use as a candidate for the National Federation Party (NFP) for the 2022 General Election.

He was described by family and friends as a multiskill­ed, multi-lingual and a highly qualified lawyer.

Apart from English and Hindi, he speaks iTaukei, Rotuman and Pidgin English.

Mr Singh attended Bua Indian School, Cama Junior Secondary School and Labasa Muslim High School.

He did his tertiary studies at the Singapore Mediation Centre, Military Police School in Sydney Australia, University of Fiji, Fiji Government Training Centre, Ministry of Justice and the University of the South Pacific.

At national level, he served as a practicing lawyer with Jiten Reddy Lawyers as an associate solicitor, Republic of Fiji Military Forces for 18 years in the rank of major, police officer with the Fiji Police Force for 13 and a half years as an instructor.

At internatio­nal level, he served with various United Nations Peacekeepi­ng Missions in countries including Golan Heights, Sudan, Lebanon, Sinai and peace monitoring group Bougainvil­le for eight years.

Mr Singh was a practicing mediator and acting chief mediator with the Ministry of Employment for eight years, a lecturer in Law at the Fiji National University and University of Fiji.

He said he chose to stand as a candidate for NFP because it was the oldest political party in the country and he believed in the party’s policy of good governance and transparen­cy.

“NFP stands for unity it unites all races and believes in genuine diversity democracy inclusivit­y and which is Fiji needs to take us forward,” he said.

“And the candidate lineup are qualified and is the true reflection and of the party and what it stands for.

Mr Singh said another reason why he chose to enter politics was because he wanted to be a voice for the people of Fiji.

“I want to focus on the issues affecting the nation such as poverty, basic freedom opinions human rights basic health care, infrastruc­ture developmen­t and education.

“All these will be addressed in consultati­ons with people — no dictatorsh­ip.

Mr Singh has urged Fijians to vote wisely.

“You have a choice and NFP is here to support you so vote 193 for Anirudh Singh,” he said.

Mr Singh is happily married with 3 children, 15 grandchild­ren and is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law.
