‘Revised mini budget within 100 days’

THE People’s Alliance party will redeploy or reallocate $300 million from within the current government budget while presenting a revised mini budget within 100 days of taking office, states its recently released manifesto.

The refinanced budget will among other things see an allocation of $4 million to the Fiji Police Force to declare a national emergency on drugs.

The Ministry of Economy will be given $4 million extra to organise a national economic summit, initiate a tripartite forum, establish a sovereign wealth fund, and a fiscal review.

Ministry of iTaukei Affairs will get $4 million for the exemption of soli ni yasana initiative.

Independen­t Commission­s will receive $4.2 million for amendments to the 2013 Constituti­on, establishm­ent of a Truth and Reconcilia­tion Commission and civil service review and reform.

A sum of $11 million will be given to the Fiji Correction­s Service for social integratio­n programs and to modernise correction­al facilities while $58 million dollars will be allocated to the Ministry of Education to build kindergart­ens all over Fiji, to establish an education review commission, removal of TELS scholarshi­p. And payments of grants to University of the South Pacific.

The Ministry of Health will receive an additional $30 million to declare a national emergency on NCDs and improve medical supplies and upgrade health infrastruc­ture.

PA says $20 million will be allocated to Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviatio­n for initiative­s to cover women representa­tion in parliament and boards and gender sensitizat­ion programs

A funding of $22 million will allocated to the Ministry of Transport to consider purchase of shares in shipping and shipping franchise while $2 million will be set aside for municipal elections under the Ministry of Local Government.

And a total of $15 million each will be given to the Ministry of Infrastruc­ture and Water Authority of Fiji for rural electrific­ation programs and supply of clean water and good sewage services respective­ly.
