$5 million factory provides jobs for 100 people

- By MONIKA SINGH

WITH the opening of its $5 million centralized factory, the Hot Bread Kitchen now has the capacity to meet the growing demand for its products in the Central Division.

Located at the Lyndhurst Warehouse in the Valelevu Tax Free Zone, the factory will produce some of the main products of the Hot Break Kitchen, such as small slice, whole meal bread, long loaf, etc.

The rest of the products such as cream buns, cheese buns, scones, etc will still be made at the various Hot Bread Kitchen outlets.

The Hot Bread Kitchen’s general manager finance Tevita Koroi said the company had invested $2.5m in the factory equipment while the rest was invested in the facility.

Mr Koroi said the company was grateful to its bank for the financial support.

This new investment by the company created more than 100 jobs which according to Mr Koroi was a great contribution by the company.

He said the factory was operating on two eight hour shifts – producing bread for HBK’s customers that included service stations, shops, supermarkets and its own outlets from Lami to Nausori.

Mr Koroi said during COVID-19 they were not able to supply its products to the consumers but with the centralized factory they would be able to meet the demand.

According to Mr Koroi the factory had the capacity to produce 2000 loaves of bread per hour.

Meanwhile

the

company plans to reopen its Sigatoka outlet soon.

The Hot Bread Kitchen owner Dr Mere Samisoni said their journey had been long but pleasant.

She said they had invested heavily into the new facility which enabled them to meet the increasing demand from their customers.

The Hot Break Kitchen held a celebration at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday to mark its 40th birthday.
