FIJI now boasts a localised gaming platform thanks to BeeDigital Pte Ltd. The platform was launched yesterday in conjunction with a promotion challenge for Damodar Cinemas’ screening of Avatar: The Way of Water.
The platform, IMI Games Fiji, currently has five free-toplay games available. The platform launches two challenges this week, the first through a zombie shooter game called Azazel set at a local cemetery.
While playing the game is free, entering the challenges will have a small fee through M-PAiSA to put the player in contention for attractive prizes for making it to the top of the leaderboards.
Founder and CEO of BeeDigital Rizvi Amith said of the IMI Games platform, “This is a global platform that has been deployed in various other markets and we’ve done hypercasual games for global brands from Nestle to the WHO.
“Our games studio is so attractive that it has also been featured successfully on Viber and Facebook insta-gaming platforms, and our games are available on that ecosystem as well. So we bring to Fiji, for the first time, a fully customised and localised hyper-casual gaming experience where all Fijians can take part.
“Hyper-casual; as in you don’t need to be a gamer or have gaming skills to take part. Anyone can simply get into the platform, into the virtual gaming arena and start playing.”
Mr Amith said he had chosen to deliver his platform as accessibly as possible to allow anyone with a smart device to play the games by avoiding the need for a large app download as gaming was no longer a gender-based or age-based hobby.
“People from age 16 to 64 play games and Fiji is no different. Wherever you go it’s not hard to find someone playing a game on their smartphone and that’s easily visible,” he said.
Fiji is only the beginning for BeeDigital and the IMI platform.
Mr Amith intends to launch in other small Pacific Island nations and once established he hopes to run regional e-sport challenges.
IMI games is powered by Vodafone together with Damodar Cinemas and is brought to you by BeeDigital in partnership with Sri Lanka’s premier endto-end Digital Agency Arimac.
