Silktails play at home

THE Kaiviti Silktails will play eight matches at Churchill Park during the 2023 Ron Massey competitio­n.

The side has spent the past two years based Mascot in Sydney because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wes Naiqama-coached side opens its campaign against Penrith Brothers on March 19 at Parker St Reserve, King St.

The side will host the Canterbury Bankstorm Bulldogs in Lautoka in the second round on March 25.

Other home games are against Hills Bulls on April 15, the round nine match against St Marys on May 20, against the Penrith Brothers on May 27, against the Glebe Dirty Reds on June 17, Mounties on June 24, the Ryde Eastwood Hawks on July 15 and the Wentworthv­ille Magpies on July 22.

The Silktails final match will be against St Marys on July 30 at St Marys Leagues Stadium.

Meanwhile, Kaiviti Silktails player Watisoni Waqanisara­vi completed his final session of training this week with the senior members of the Sydney Roosters’ Jersey Flegg squad at the Central Coast Roosters Academy at The Entrance in Sydney.

The 18-year-old joined the

Sydney Roosters side for preChristm­as training.

Meli Nasau, Iobe Taukeisali­li and Simione Cakau also played for the Sydney Roosters side against an NRL First Nations Developmen­t squad at Wyong where they put in solid performanc­es in the trial.

The Kaiviti Silktails also supported the exhibition match by supplying its Sydney mini-bus fleet to the First Nations Team who came in from all parts of Australia to take on the Roosters.

The initiative was organised by NRL Indigenous Welfare Manager and Sydney Roosters Jersey Flegg coach Dean Feeney.
